Chorus Hamilton was founded in 1968 to participate in the opening of Mohawk College’s Fennell Campus in Hamilton, Ontario, the choir is now a 60-member semi-professional choral society.
Chorus Hamilton performs choral music of the highest standard using a varied choral repertoire including the great classical large-scale works, chamber music, sacred, Broadway, jazz and contemporary music, often with professional soloists and orchestral accompaniment.
Chorus Hamilton has been invited to perform with the University of Guelph Symphony, the Brantford Symphony Orchestra, the Redeemer University Sinfonia, the Hamilton Youth Orchestra and Symphony on the Bay. In addition, the choir has collaborated with the McMaster University Choir and Fanshawe Chorus London in several large scale choral events including Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Haydn’ Lord Nelson Mass, Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater, and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. The choir performs concerts in various venues throughout the Hamilton/Dundas/Niagara and Southwestern Ontario areas.
